Merionethshire has a long and rich tradition of trialling and is the breeding ground for winners, both dogs and handlers over the years. The trials will be held in early September at Sandilands, farmed by Geraint Owen. The farm is situated close to the sea, much of the land having been salvaged from sand dunes. Sandilands also provides holiday caravan accommodation.
When the International Trials were last held at Tywyn in 1968 the winner was Welshman Llyr Evans. Will history repeat itself?
Finding a location and securing the site wasn't easy at such short notice, and we are grateful for the generosity and welcome received by our hosts Geraint and Annest Owen and their family, who have so very kindly provided the venue for the 2016 International Sheepdog Trials at Sandilands Farm, Tywyn. We are very lucky to have an experienced committee and their dedication to making the 2016 Sheepdog Trial a success is second to none. The event spans over three days Friday 9th, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of September, with handlers from Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland competing to be the Individual Supreme Champion of 2016. Planning is now well under way and the Tywyn committee are looking forward to welcoming you all to this small part of Wales. Please visit the website often, as there will be regular updates as we progress towards the event taking place.
It is advisable to book Hotel, Bed and Breakfast accommodation early as places are limited in the Tywyn area. Have a look under the Accommodation link of the website for a list of places that offer accommodation.
